Inspiration - For this Scratch project, Kalyani Menon and I were inspired by a video we recently saw about the various effects of not recycling trash properly as a part of an earlier project. If we do not recycle trash now, the world will not be a better place to live in tomorrow. If people quit recycling, the greenhouse gases will increase, the natural resources will diminish and the number of landfills will increase.
What it does - Kalyani and I made an animation in scratch, in which kids learn to recycle their trash, and put their waste in the correct bins. The animation starts to play when we press the flag button and then press space.
How I built it - Kalyani and I built this project in Scratch, by using the app TeamViewer to collaborate and share ideas.
Challenges I ran into - This was the first time Kalyani and I were introduced to Scratch, so we ran into many challenges. We were not sure how to make a code, but eventually understood how to by going through tutorials.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of - As it was our first time, making this animation itself is an achievement Kalyani and I are proud of. We are very satisfied with the results we achieved.
What I learned - Kalyani and I learned a lot through our experience in Hackathon. We learnt how to successfully code and animation in Scratch and how to use collaborative apps like TeamViewer to share our thoughts.
What's next for Environment Sustainability (Scratch) - For the next level, Kalyani and I are planning to make a game instead of an animation which is more complex, using advanced coding techniques, and is more attractive.
