Inspiration
We thought of ways that people might be able to help prevent climate change, and ultimately decided that it cannot be done without collaboration with everyone, so we built our project around that idea.
What it does
It enables people to work together to solve small-scale problems, which will add up in the grand scheme. On the website, people can either sign up for events they are interested in or have time for or organize their own events. All of this enables collaboration in the fight against climate change. We also included some climate models where we took data and graphed it in with python, which clearly showed an upward trend, thus motivating the viewer to take action.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and some PHP to build the website. Python for the graphs. We collaborated on Repl.it, though we could have also used GitHub
Challenges we ran into
Coming up with ideas, agreeing on something that everyone was satisfied with.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We went from an ugly website to one that doesn't look too bad.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate on a project, and we also improved our skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, and Python
What's next for Environment Event Organizer
Adding more functionality, such as making the Zipcode searcher work, and making the website more responsive so people on different devices can view it. We would also add a database which would store the information of all the projects going on and all the people involved in them.
