Inspiration

The prompt we were given was to solve "How can we actively encourage ourselves and others to contribute positively to the environment surrounding us?". As the next generation that will inherit the Earth and responsibility for it, we aim to create a solution that would appeal to this specific audience that we understand best.

What it does

The application promotes the positive contribution to our environments by appealing to Generation Z and Alpha. Our application is a solution media app in which users are given daily challenges which they must complete and provide proof of in posts. Users will also be in competition with global participants and their friends, which generates interest and allure.

How we built it

We built the basic frameworks of the application and plan to create a working platform in the future. Our prototype was developed using Figma, however we went through an extensive design process prior to our prototypes development.

Challenges we ran into

Along the way we made many amazing memories however we also ran into various challenges. Initially, as a team we were extremely ambitious and aimed to develop an app as well as a complete presentation and prototype, however as beginner hackers we were in over our heads. Unfortunately, we had to cut down on the application development and distribute more resources towards the prototype, however this taught us that we need to make better use of our time and aim to set more realistic goals

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of our final prototype as we spent a great amount of time perfecting it and are proud of how well we came together as a team especially under immense pressure.

What we learned?

As some of our team was new to hackathons, they were able to develop their skills using Figma and prototyping knowledge. Additionally, as a team we learned to better time manage and develop an effective, creative and interesting business pitch.

What's next for Environmates

In the future, we intend on advancing our app development in order to develop a working platform for users, developing an advertising feature for sustainable businesses, and develop a system to encourage our users through tangible rewards.
