Inspiration

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) inspired us to create a platform that bridges technology and environmental consciousness. In a world increasingly driven by consumption and convenience, we wanted to build a platform that not only raises awareness about sustainable practices but also actively enables responsible behavior through AI and data-driven insights.

What it does

EnviroMind is an AI-powered platform built to promote sustainability and responsible decision-making. It comprises five main tools:

🌱 EcoScan Scans product materials to analyze their environmental impact and includes a Revive Store where users can buy/sell recyclable goods. Eco scan gives metrics on whether the scanned product is bio degradable or not,whether it can be recycled or not, whether it can be sold on the Revive store or not, and a confidence meter on how sure the AI model is with its analysis. SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption, SDG 13 – Climate Action

🚜 AgroVision Offers two modes: Soil Mode and Plant Mode. Soil Mode classifies soil types and provides key agricultural insights using advanced YOLO detection models. Plant Mode detects plant diseases via leaf images using YOLOv8. Both the modes offer key data visualization metrics like pH level, Crops that can be grown, Diseased v/s Health Piechart etc. There is adavnced plant and nutrient analaysis which when enabled gives information on crucial nutrients available in the soil or plant. It also features a Farmer-to-Consumer Marketplace called Farmers Market, connecting local farmers directly with consumers. SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 12 – Responsible Production, SDG 15 – Life on Land

🌍 PolluMap Accepts a city name and displays its air pollution, water quality, and weather data using interactive maps and graphs. Designed to fight pollution and global warming, it aligns with the SDG missions to reduce pollution, and uses APIs like WeatherStack and Ambee for getting real time data. The entire mapping interface is developed on almost 45,000 cities which makes it a versatile tool for pollution analysis. SDG 6 – Clean Water, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities, SDG 13 – Climate Action

🩺 Dr. R A Gemini-powered multilingual AI chatbot that assists users with medical queries. It includes EcoPharmacy where users can purchase eco freindly pharamaceutaical products. Dr. R can converse in over 200+ languages (including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Mandarin, French, and Japanese) thanks to Google Translate integration. SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being

🎓 Madam A An educational hub offering online courses on SDGs and sustainable living practices. Built with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, it ensures a modern and smooth user learning experience. Users get certificates on completion of courses which can they print as a pdf. SDG 4 – Quality Education

🛒 Marketplaces in EnviroMind

EnviroMind doesn't just provide tools for awareness—it creates real marketplaces that empower users to act on sustainability in everyday life. Here are the three key marketplaces integrated within the platform:

♻️ Revive Store A community-driven marketplace where users can buy, sell, or donate recyclable and upcycled goods.This market place was primarily designed to reduce the disposal of non bio degradable waste into nature and to promote recyclability. Encourages a circular economy by extending product lifecycles. Supports local sustainability by enabling peer-to-peer exchanges. Users earn EnviroCredits for each responsible transaction. Supports: SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production, SDG 13 – Climate Action

💊 Eco Pharmacy An integrated virtual medical store within the Dr. R chatbot interface. Offers eco-certified, essential medications and wellness products. Promotes green packaging and sustainable supply chains in healthcare. Empowers users to access ethical, affordable healthcare from anywhere. Supports: SDG 3 – Good Health & Well-being, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption

🚜 Farmers Market Part of AgroVision, this farmer-to-consumer e-market bridges the gap between local producers and conscious consumers. Enables direct access to fresh, organic produce. Eliminates middlemen—giving farmers fair pricing and visibility. Promotes sustainable agriculture by connecting environmentally aware buyers to responsible growers. Supports: SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 12 – Responsible Production, SDG 15 – Life on Land

These marketplaces turn intent into action—allowing every user to shop with purpose, heal responsibly, and support sustainability with every click.

🌟 Additional Key Features

🏆 EnviroCredits System Users earn credits by completing tasks such as scanning with EcoScan, completing Madam A courses, or contributing to forums. These credits unlock rewards, features, or certifications—gamifying sustainability.

📚 Publications Interface Users can directly publish SDG-related research, papers, or innovations through our platform. We help amplify their voices by forwarding these to recognized global bodies like the United Nations.

📈 Sustainable Impact Metric Analyzer A personalized analytics dashboard that shows how a user's actions across EnviroMind tools contribute to sustainability. Users can track their impact across SDG goals and see how they’re helping build a more responsible planet.

Together, these features make EnviroMind a sustainable life assistant for conscious living, powered by AI, data, and global vision.

How we built it

We developed the project using Flask for the backend and integrated Firebase as our real-time database.

For EcoScan and AgroVision, we trained AI models using publicly available datasets from Kaggle to classify soil types and detect plant diseases, using the powerful YoloV8 classifiers. The AI models attained a 85% accuracy across all validation datasets.
Dr. R was developed as a medical chatbot using natural language processing for interactive health consultations.Its powered with the help of Gemini, and can understand upto 200 plus languages including Hindi, Kannada, Tamil,Telugu,Malyalam, French, Russian, Mandarin etc, thanks to the integration of Google Translate.
PolluMap integrates multiple external APIs like WeatherStack and Ambee to gather environmental data and uses Leaflet.js to provide an interactive map experience.
The frontend was styled with modern web components for a clean, user-friendly experience with the help of TypeScript, React, NextJs.
