Inspiration

We are great environmental enthusiasts and believe that everyone just needs little motivation to start or continue reducing their CO2 emissions. previously downloading apps to help trigger the motivation, but not being able to continue over a long period of time, we decided that what's missing is some incentive and fun! With this new app, everyone is encouraged to take walks instead of driving short distances, use sustainable products/services, and challenge friends to earn discounts and more!

What it does

Enviro is an app that helps users make more environmentally conscious decisions by providing tips and activities that they can do. They will be able to earn reward points through completing these activities and redeem their points at a local business that is partners with us. This incentives users to create a positive impact on the environment as well as support small businesses.

How we built it

We used a Firebase, Node.js, React Native tech stack which takes care of storing data and hosting our app. We also made many models for the app for preliminary revisions.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into is choosing the correct technical frameworks and languages to use as there are a lot of choices to pick from.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make an app user interface visualization on Figma which allowed the app to come to life.

What we learned

As a team, we gain experience in working in a business-tech environment and were able to solve any and all team problems that occur. We had very helpful workshop sessions to help improve our presentation and hack idea. We also learned to use everyone's strengths to have more effective collaboration sessions.

What's next for Enviro

For the future, we plan on adding more environmentally aware tips and activities to further help our users be more sustainable. We plan on expanding the number of local businesses that we are affiliated with so that we can increase our revenue and offer more discounts and promote local businesses to our users.
