Inspiration
Latinx communities suffer from ignorance. They become victims of laws they aren't aware of, and don't even know where to look to find what the regulations are for sending money back to their countries. Fees compile, and just in a year, they can be losing hundreds to thousands of dollars by choosing systems that appear to have the lowest fees. That isn't always true.
What it does
An agent you can contact in any way: website, text, voice memos, call, to learn about how to best send the money you're trying to send back home with the lowest fees and rates.
How I built it
Base44 web / VAPI phone / Twilio WhatsApp → Daytona cost engine (tested) → ElevenLabs voice and agent → the same answer everywhere.
Challenges we ran into
- Daytona's free tier blocks outbound internet, so the exchange-rate snapshot is uploaded at deploy time, and Twilio downloads the voice-memo audio before it reaches Daytona.
- Daytona's proxy showed phone browsers an HTML warning page instead of passing requests through. We found it from the server logs and fixed it with a header.
- iPhones block audio that starts after a delay, and mute some audio APIs on silent. We switched to a player unlocked inside the tap.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Was able to make everything connect with minimal problems. Did all by myself.
What we learned
How to use these tools and the possible applications with them. Plan to use my knowledge in using these apps towards future projects.
What's next for Envio Claro
Expanding towards not only hispanic immigrants, but an international system which is able to help as many people as possible.
