Inspiration

Managing several contest applications makes it easy to trust a summary without checking the official rules, or to enter the same notice twice. EntryProof turns that final check into a small, auditable step.

What it does

The applicant pastes a contest title, official URL, and relevant rules passage, then chooses a decision and exact quote for each of four conditions: location eligibility, cash award, no required in-person step, and free entry. EntryProof verifies that each quote appears in the supplied passage. It compares the candidate with a locally imported JSON register. An exact normalized URL or title blocks a repeat; a similar title asks for review. The result can be downloaded as a compact JSON audit.

How it was built

We started in a new folder, installed the official Devpost Learn AI Basics Skill Pack, and used its scope, product requirements, and technical specification stages before coding. After the plan was approved, we built a static HTML/CSS/JavaScript app with a pure audit module. Node tests cover the main decision states, and the browser flow was checked in Chrome. There is no backend, account, or runtime API key.

Challenges and learning

The hardest design choice was avoiding false certainty. A quote match proves text is present, but it cannot prove legal eligibility. EntryProof therefore leaves unknown or unverified conditions in review and makes the user read the official rules. Separating the audit function from the UI made every status easier to explain and test.

The demo uses fictional contest data. Source code, setup instructions, tests, and planning documents are in the public repository.
