Inspiration

Energy consumption all across the world is rapidly increasing but resources are diminishing even more rapidly. So we came up with a simple solution to track energy usage that would help us limit our energy consumption , save energy and reduce carbon footprint from the planet.

What it does

It helps calculate the amount of CO2 released per month by manually inputting energy consumption data, based on which we can keep a track of our monthly energy usage. It provides daily tips to reduce energy consumption and has a leaderboard feature which lists top users who have saved energy per month, leading to environment safety. It also has a task list where a user in their personal accounts can list the tasks they wanna complete in order to save more energy like turning off lights not in use, changing to LED lights etc. We also have an auth feature for users to create/delete their own accounts.

How we built it

We used django for backend and used html/css/js for frontend development.

Challenges we ran into

We needed testers for leaderboard functionality, and faced tiny js functionality issues which were later handled by my teammates.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building a platform that helps us keep track of energy usage thus reducing the carbon footprint and leading to a greener world.

What we learned

We learned how a simply checking lists can help us be more responsible in using energy resources more efficienty.

What's next for EnTrack

AI powered recommendation on saving energy and adding modbus protocol so that we don't have to manually input data to check energy consumption per month.
