Inspiration

We’ve all had those late-night "What if this was a movie?" moments. Whether it’s a wild story idea or a dramatic plot twist in your group chat, turning those into actual content takes a full editing suite, a team, and patience. I wanted to change that. EntertainAI was born from the idea that anyone not just filmmakers should be able to create cinematic stories, trailers, and short films using the power of AI, all from the comfort of their browser.

What it does

Build interactive, branching narratives using a drag-and-drop Story Tree Editor. Add multimedia elements like voiceovers, music, and visuals. Generate full cinematic trailers and movies using integrated AI from Websim. Collaborate in real time with friends or teams. Analyze engagement with a built-in Analytics Dashboard. Export and share content in multiple formats

How I built it

Frontend: React 18 + TypeScript + Vite for blazing-fast rendering UI/UX: TailwindCSS, Lucide React design for a sleek look Backend: Supabase for real-time database, auth, and storage AI Integration: OpenAI GPT, TTS for narration, WebSim for movie generation

Challenges I ran into

Real-time sync issues when multiple users edited the story tree at once (my two alt accounts) API rate limits and downtimes, especially with AI services during testing so I had to switch to Websim AI Designing a drag-and-drop story system that felt both intuitive and powerful later I turned it into just a type and choose system Embedding WebSim tools into my own interface without breaking UX And of course, racing the clock this was a big project to cram into a weekend!

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Built a full-stack, production-ready creative platform in <48 hours Created a seamless storytelling experience that feels fun, fast, and powerful Integrated multiple AI services smoothly under one website Designed a UI that feels like a legit SaaS tool not just a hackathon MVP

What I learned

Real-time tools are hard, but incredibly rewarding when done right A clean component-based architecture makes everything easier (thank you React!) AI works best when it’s guided too much freedom can break immersion (again had to switch to Websim for it assistive AI features) Most of all: creative tools need to be fun if it’s not fun, people won’t use it

What's next for EntertainAI

AI image and video generation inside the editor Character creation and voice cloning A story asset marketplace: backgrounds, music, scenes, etc. Cloud saves, team workspaces, and mobile optimization Monetization tools for creators to sell their movies or trailers Plugin support so creators can build custom story components
