Inspiration

Ensemble bases its primary loop on tinder, and while we are not musicians ourselves, we are all music fans and know people trying to break into the music industry.

What it does

Concept: Ensemble allows musicians looking for prospective bandmates to connect to each other in a simple, inoffensive way

Currently: Allows users to link to YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook video, and Twitch videos and attach them to cards that can be swiped like a tinder card.

How we built it

largely haphazardly

Challenges we ran into

We chose to challenge ourselves by working exclusively with tools and languages none of us have ever used before. This had the (probably predictable) effect of us moving along at a snails pace, where even small changes and updates could take hours to figure out.

Additionally, due to time zones, a small team, and wildly inconsistent internet connections it was rare that more than one of us was working on the project at a time. This means that instead of having four people working on a project for 24 hours, we functionally had one person working on a project for a little less than 24 hours

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While we didn't even get to the halfway point, everything we've managed to accomplish is impressive to us, and we are happy with how far we have come in such a short time. The real goal here was to learn new skills and step outside of our comfort zones, which we definitely accomplished.

What we learned

A baseline of how to use the React framework, the basics of front end development, and that 24 hours is not nearly as long as it sounds

What's next for Ensemble

Unknown. I would like to pursue this in the future and maybe turn it into an app, but that's really up to Roshan as it was originally his idea.
