Inspiration

We were inspired by the Peace Out Hacks theme of peace and wanted to create something that would bring people together to make our world a safe, sustainable, and peaceful place. We felt that the one thing stopping the world from achieving this goal was that there wasn’t a dedicated place for people to share, find and report events that help better our world.

What it does

We built an app that allowed people to organize protests and other events in order to change the world and create a more peaceful world. It allows users to create posts that other people can see. If someone sees a post near them then they can join them in changing the world.

How we built it

For the website we used React, a single page javascript run framework, that allows us to create a website. We used TailwindCSS for animations and styling. We used React-Router-DOM in order to be able to change pages. We used Google Maps in order to use the markers for the map functionality. We used HeroIcons for the icons that we put on the buttons and the Navbar. For the Homepage, we used an npm package to create a carousel.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges because many of us had not used the Google Maps API, so it was hard to do that. We also ran into many challenges with styling because we had not used TailwindCSS a lot.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating such a good app.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the Google Maps API, Tailwind CSS, Animations, Carousels, and how to use react-redux

What's next for Enhance The World

For our website, we definitely want to implement a comment/chat system for people to interact and ask questions about certain events that are taking place. We also want to gear the website towards not just spreading information about meet-ups but to also allow people to register and join certain events within the website itself.
