Inspiration

EngineerME was inspired by ourpersonal desire to simplify everyday tasks and reduce mental load. As a student always looking for side projects, I noticed how often people struggle with managing routine activities, forgetting important tasks, or dealing with inefficiencies. This drove me to create a solution that uses technology to streamline daily life and make it easier.

What it does

EngineerME shows you potential ways to optimizes daily tasks using smart technology. Whether it’s setting reminders, managing chores, or improving efficiency, EngineerME offers practical, easy-to-implement solutions using sensors, microcontrollers, and software. The goal is to help users save time, reduce stress, and focus on what truly matters.

How we built it

EngineerME combines our knowledge of technologies like Arduino, IoT devices, Python and sensors (motion sensors, smart home devices) to create plans with detailed steps to build custom software/hardware to automate and manage tasks easily through simple interfaces.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was integrating multiple technologies seamlessly. Depending on the issue, which software chosen should be an educated suggestion. Another challenge was ensuring that provided solutions were easy for users with minimal technical experience to set up and maintain.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of how intuitive and accessible our solutions are. Users can learn to automate tasks like turning off lights, setting reminders, or controlling appliances without needing advanced technical skills. We’re also proud of the versatility of our system, which can be customized to fit various needs and environments.

What we learned

We learned the importance of user-centered design. Ensuring provided solutions are simple and flexible is crucial for widespread adoption. We also gained valuable experience in understanding which hardware and software components together can build a cohesive system that works seamlessly in real-world scenarios.

What's next for EngineerME

Next, we plan to expand EngineerME’s capabilities by adding more specific tools such as common combinations used in the industry when designing a solution. For example, for a potential Full-stack web application, which technologies are commonly used together.
