Engie Challenge, The ease-of-use of dashboards

What it does

Provides comprehensive real-time data and trends on solar panel usage, energy generation, and predictions based on weekly weather forecasts.

How we built it

We used home assistant as a base to build a dashboard which displays a wide-array of real-time energy usage statistics. After implementing the main dashboard, we delved into long-term analysis of historical trends for University solar usage.

Challenges we ran into

A few challenges that we ran into were working with the APIs, messy data, and implementing a wide array of statistics/graphics, integrating large, historical datasets into home assistant, and

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how we were able to display real-time energy statistics in a digestible dashboard format!

What we learned

We learned how to access and use APIs, how to use pandas to perform large-scale data analytics, and how to design dashboards for ease of use.

What's next for Engie Solar Dashboard

We would like to improve on predictive modelling, allowing for the University to better optimize energy budget and consumption. We would also like to expand on historical trend integration to aid in our predictive capabilities. With more time, we would like to clean the data more thoroughly and and correct any errors in calculations!
