Inspiration

MOOCs are currently not engaging enough. MOOCs struggle to duplicate the same quality of class as an in-person, for-credit "equivalent" class at actual universities.

What it does

EngageMOOC strives to be an alternative MOOC that is more engaging. There are more office hours. Students are encouraged to go to office hours. Student engagement is a huge portion of the requirements for course completion.

How we built it

Basic Python Notebooks.

Challenges we ran into

This was a grand idea and the time limitation set limits on what was achievable. For example, there was just insufficient time to play around and work with the original idea of implementing generative AI into the course, so that this project is still mostly just theoretical.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A sample lesson was deployed.

What we learned

MOOCs require more time to actually implement and that Generative AI can be of help.

What's next for EngageMOOC

Competing against Michigan Online and Coursera.
