Inspiration
Games like Pokemon Go and the amount of tourist attractions in our country that go unnoticed were the 2 main inspirations for us.
What it does
It enhances the tourist's experience when visiting the various tourist attractions found in our country Ethiopia. Prizes, Checkpoints, and Leaderboards are used to keep the tourist engaged and to help them explore more.
How we built it
We have used Vuforia with Unity to showcase one functionality of the app which is the Marker Based AR functionality. Markers at different checkpoints will be scanned by tourists' phones to display different information about that checkpoint including how to get to the next one. The other functionalities are going to be demonstrated by a prototype built with a design tool.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was choosing what to demonstrate as we had different functionalities that we wanted to implement. The limited time we had was a constraint in this aspect. We also faced some issues with the computing power of our laptops when we used applications that used extensive power.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even though we were not able to implement the whole thing, we were still able to work on parts of the system, and having that piece of the pie that actually functions was truly satisfying.
What we learned
Solving problems in a short amount of time, we are all problem solvers as programmers after all. Working together with a team that came from different backgrounds. We met on day 1 of the hackathon and we were able to work with each other and turn our ideas into prototypes.
What's next for Enehid
We plan to build on the idea and change the prototype into a working app and improve people's lives by it
