Inspiration

The inspiration for creating EndoCare came from recognizing the challenges faced by individuals with endometriosis. Personal experiences and stories from friends and family have emphasized the need for enhanced support, resources, and community for those affected by this condition. Our goal is to develop a platform that can provide comprehensive support and foster a sense of community.

What it does

EndoCare is currently under development as a comprehensive web app for individuals with endometriosis. Features include:

  • Appointment Management: Users will be able to input and manage their upcoming appointments, receiving timely notifications.
  • Medication Reminders: Users can log their medications and receive reminders based on specified timings.
  • Educational Resources: Access to a curated library of articles, blogs, and PDFs on endometriosis.
  • Hospital Recommendations: Listings of hospitals and clinics specializing in endometriosis care, along with contact details.
  • Community Forum: An interactive platform where users can share experiences, offer advice, and support one another.
  • Symptom Tracker: Allows users to input their symptoms and receive recommendations on what steps to take.
  • Period Tracker: Helps users keep track of their menstrual cycles.
  • General Exercises for Pain Management: Access to a variety of exercises designed to alleviate endometriosis-related pain.
  • Personalized Diet and Exercise Recommendations: Tailored dietary and exercise plans based on individual symptoms and preferences to support health and wellness.

How we built it

We are currently developing EndoCare using React.js for the front end and Python for the backend, with MySQL for the database. Authentication is handled using Passport.js for secure user login and management. Our development process involves extensive research and iterative design to ensure the app meets the needs of the endometriosis community.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we're addressing is ensuring the accuracy and relevance of medical information provided in the app. We are conducting thorough research to ensure the content meets medical standards.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While EndoCare is still in the development stage and not yet deployed, we are proud of some of its accomplishments including:

  • Development Progress: We have made significant strides in building the core functionalities of EndoCare, including appointment management, medication reminders, and the community forum.
  • Team Unity: Our team has demonstrated strong collaboration and dedication, overcoming challenges and making steady progress towards our development goals.

What we learned

During the development of EndoCare, we are gaining valuable insights into the complexity of managing endometriosis and the importance of support.

What's next for ENDOCARE

As we progress, our next steps include finalizing development, conducting thorough testing, and preparing for deployment. We plan to continue expanding the app's features based on user feedback and collaborating with healthcare providers to enhance resources available through EndoCare.
