Inspiration
In today's time millions of people get hacked daily and they have no idea how to keep themselves safe online and what things you have to avoid. We believe that increasing awareness and knowledge on the subjects of network and cybersecurity can help mitigate this problem, thus Encyberpedia was born.
What it does
Our app is designed to keep people informed about cyber threats and how they can prevent and deter bad actors. It achieves this by utilizing easy-to-understand information resources and reinforcing quizzes to teach people subjects relating to the field of cybersecurity and networking.
How we built it
We created our app using Code.org and programmed it using JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
One of the many challenges we ran into is the lack of coding and app design experience, this caused many roadblocks and setbacks during the development of our app. Another challenge was difficulties with the software we used to create the app, as it didn't have good team support, so we had to figure out ways to work around it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that as a team we could all get together and build an app, even with all the setbacks we were able to successfully push through it and create something we can be proud of.
What we learned
We learned how to work as team, how properly manage our time, and improved our coding/app design skills. We were also able to brush up on are knowledge of the fields of cybersecurity and networking while working on this project, some of our team members even learned about topics they previously had no knowledge on, like subnetting and wire standards.
What's next for Encyberpedia
We hope to add more topics, such as a category for scams to help people identify them. We also plan on increasing the amount of accessibility features in the future, such as adding different translations of the text to languages such as Spanish and French.
