ELC Hack for Pink Hackathon Submission
Summary:
Introducing EncourageMINT, a Progressive Web App (PWA) built to anonymously connect community members affected by breast cancer, whether they're providing care, experiencing treatment, or in remission. Users are given the ability to connect with other members of the community that are in a similar stage of their battle with breast cancer to commiserate, offer advice, be a listening ear, etc. Why anonymity? We recognized that some people may conceal their true feelings to not burden those around them. By giving our users the ability to chat anonymously, we've given them the freedom to honestly express themselves without the fear of identification and abstracting the need for internalizing by allowing them to connect with somebody who better understands what they are going through.

Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer overall. As of January 2020, there are more than 3.5 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. Breast cancer affects not only the patient, but also impacts the people who care for them.
🧚♀️ How Can EncourageMint Help?
The guiding belief behind EncourageMint is that no one should feel like a burden because they are in need of support, whether it be commiseration, advice, or just a listening ear.
Community members are understanding of what you’re going through whether you are in treatment, providing care, or in remission because they are also experiencing their own journeys.
