Inspiration

The inspiration came about when we found out that patients were afraid to visit the hospital amid the COVID19 outbreak. This was a concern, especially for the private hospitals as they'd struggle to stay afloat with the significant reduction in patients. Our aim is to ensure hospitals get to turn around quickly and for the patients to stay safe and healthy during their visit.

What it does

Help social distancing for patients in hospital Patients will be able to check their live queue from home or from inside their car using EncoreMed. They will not need to come into the hospital until it's about to be their turn.

Reduce congestion and disperse crowd Hospitals will be able to manage their crowd better as the system has a Smart Queue feature where it prioritize appointment patients. Hospitals can ensure their premise doesn't get over crowded and risk patients getting infected.

Help reduce patient's fear of visiting hospital Patients will no longer need to fear coming to the hospital and wait in a crowded clinic. With our mobile live queue system, they will be allowed to check their queue and know how crowded the clinic is at all times. We see this as something crucial in terms of social distancing.

Help hospitals business stay afloat with telehealth With our new, to be launched telehealth feature, hospitals will be able to do business as usual to a certain extent. This feature will also allow patient to get a consultation from home and avoid coming to the hospital.

How I built it

This solution was built with mainly two key users in mind, hospitals and patients. The work hand in hand to make this solution what it is. Our solution is geared towards ensuring patients are provided the transparency and freedom to check their queues from home. And this will happen when the hospitals timestamps the patients who are already there, correctly.

Challenges I ran into

One of our major challenge is, due to lack of awareness, to quickly scale this across other hospitals. We are hoping by the exposure we get from here, it will open the eyes of hospitals across the world and we can go in and help out during these trying times.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We're proud to have more than 30 major private hospitals and 5 government sector clinics in Malaysia at the moment. We are doing our best to create awareness on how we can help combat COVID19 and to try to get it into every hospital in the country. We really want to help as many people as possible.

What I learned

Our solution has tremendously helped the hospitals in exercising social distancing during this period. What I've learned is that digital solutions in healthcare can really help in situations where hospitals need to remotely communicate information to their patients. In our case, we're trying to understand what innovations the hospital needs and develop solutions as quick as possible to help them.

What's next for EncoreMed Hospital Advance Appointment & Smart Queue

We are in the midst of launching our new telehealth feature. This will provide much needed boost to the hospitals and reduce fear among patients who are now scared to visit the hospital because of the outbreak.
