Inspiration 💡

Each of our team members went to at least one concert this summer, often to the same artists, yet we didn’t realize it. We noticed that while concerts are inherently social, there isn’t an easy way to see who in your network will be there. Encore is our answer to two common problems concert‑goers face: not knowing who else is going and being unable to connect once you’re there.

What it does ❓

Encore lets you explore local shows, see which of your friends are attending, and share seat information. It bridges the gap between the individual ticketing experience and the social nature of live events, creating a more connected concert experience.

Features 📝

  • Add friends and see which concerts they're attending
  • Browse the event feed by location
  • Mark your status as Attending or Interested
  • Optionally share your seat number to find nearby friends in the venue

How we built it 🛠️

We built it with Expo and TypeScript, and its responsive UI was designed using TailwindCSS. We implemented user login and data storage through Firebase Auth and Firestore Database, allowing concert-goers to update their ticket status and share seat details. The backend is set up on Vercel, which fetches data from the Ticketmaster API and shows upcoming concerts in your area.

What we learned 🧠

  • forestry is an important major
  • the power of networking
  • redbull gives you wings

What's next for Encore 💭

  • Expand Encore’s network by partnering with more venues, such as clubs and social event spaces not affiliated with Ticketmaster
  • Integrate additional APIs to pull data from Spotify or Apple Music and suggest concerts based on artists users follow
  • Enable users to create groups, post photos, and share reviews on their profiles
