Inspiration

The best live nights begin before the first song. A listening atmosphere, a welcoming gathering, or a striking visual idea can give an audience something to discover together.

We built ENCORE for independent music venues and local promoters who want to give an artist booking a whole-night identity. Our ambition is to carry cultural inspiration into the practical choices that shape an evening—and give the team one clear brief to develop together.

What it does

Choose a headliner, neighborhood, and production budget. ENCORE uses live Qloo recommendations across places, artists, and films to create a pre-show concept with cultural references, collaboration leads, five production allocations, a proposed schedule, and launch copy.

Our public journey starts with Khruangbin · Brooklyn · $2,400. Arc De Soleil and Lost in Translation provide cultural references, while Land to Sea, NARS Foundation, and Pioneer Works become the initial collaboration leads. Each place carries Qloo source information and verified Brooklyn locality membership.

Open Why this connection? to see the discovery rank, category, cultural cues, and locality evidence. Select $1,600, and Land to Sea and NARS Foundation carry forward in a two-concept format. All five allocations update to the exact total, and the change summary makes the new plan easy to follow.

Refresh Land to Sea: NARS Foundation stays and Pioneer Works joins. Each current lead receives a named activation in the proposed schedule. Export a Markdown brief that matches the screen, bringing the cultural references, current leads, allocations, proposed timings, launch copy, and change summary into the next production conversation.

The studio presents place recommendations as collaboration leads and the event as a proposed plan, ready for an organizer to develop with their team.

How we built it

We built ENCORE with Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, using zero runtime dependencies. Server-side Qloo search resolves the chosen artist; cross-domain Insights retrieve places, artists, and films. Credentials stay on the server.

The adapter preserves Qloo's original discovery ranks, place categories, cultural tags, locality membership, and retrieval context. The planner combines those inputs with category variety, the budget format, and persistent organizer feedback. Stable entity identities connect the selected leads, proposed schedule, change summary, and exported brief.

Five fixed-share allocations make the selected production total exact. Editorial templates turn the selected facts into launch copy. Bounded caching and shared in-flight requests reuse successful cultural discovery across refinements while retaining source receipts.

We verified real authenticated retrieval and the full public journey. A controlled replay of the same Khruangbin candidate pool also showed Qloo's ordering changing the selected lineup, making its contribution to selection directly inspectable.

Challenges we ran into

Our central engineering challenge was turning cultural recommendations into one coherent, evolving production plan. We connected selection, budget, named activities, change summaries, and export through a shared current plan. A refresh now follows the organizer's feedback all the way into the final brief.

We also made cultural discovery tangible. Strict Brooklyn locality membership, categories derived from Qloo's returned tags, and visible selection reasons give each place a clear foundation. Source receipts preserve context across reused responses, and the desktop workflow and responsive mobile layout were verified in the public studio.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • A publicly accessible Live Qloo studio that carries real cultural recommendations into a complete pre-show planning journey.
  • The verified Khruangbin / Brooklyn / $2,400 → $1,600 → refresh → export workflow, with real place leads and consistent final decisions.
  • Explainable recommendations, persistent feedback, exact five-category allocations, and one proposed activation per current lead.
  • 14 passed public browser acceptance checks across the desktop journey and responsive mobile layout, including real search, source/locality explanations, plan refinement, and matching export.
  • Passed targeted Qloo adapter and provider regressions, plus observed response reuse and shared requests in authenticated local checks.
  • An expressive concert-poster interface and public MIT-licensed source.
  • A published 91-second Live product film featuring actual screens from the accepted public journey, English narration, and captions, with complete public playback verified.

What we learned

A cultural connection becomes a powerful planning ingredient when the organizer can understand it, give it a role in the evening, refine it, and carry the same choice into a document.

That insight shaped ENCORE: put the reason beside the recommendation, make feedback visible, and keep the schedule and export aligned with the current plan. Live cultural discovery becomes something a creative team can work with.

What's next for ENCORE

The public Live Qloo studio now connects cultural discovery to a complete planning workflow. We will build on it with richer venue context and shared planning tools, helping independent promoters develop each booking into a distinctive evening.

ENCORE. Build the night around what people love.
