Inspiration

I've got really inspired by the themes of this hackathon. And there is something I've always wanted to do, which was to run my own business. This is my childhood dream. Crazy, right?

Growing up, I realized that it wasn't so easy. Not because of a lack of time, but rather because of the fear of doing something illegal or not being able to keep up with paperwork. I would have loved to have a tool that solves my doubts and manages everything for me, step by step, so that I don't loose money with advisors and don't have to make scary phone calls. In the last few years, I've also been amazed by the growth of companies like LegalPlace, a legalTech online platform specialized in handling legal and administrative procedures for company creation. Their promise is to create your company in France from 0€ offering you guaranties and automation.

Reading the hackathon description, I thought it would be a nice idea to test the legalTech market in Spain and to create a tool that manages or help company creation for you, and offers you the possibility to contact with advisors directly sending them all the information they need automatically. Indeed, Spain's public administration is highly decentralized and fragmented. There is also a lot of digital friction; Spanish business owners rely heavily on human gestores to navigate the confusing local bureaucracy. And, to make matters worse, Spanish tax authority operates on a highly aggressive enforcement model and the country has strong Data Privacy laws.

This makes the landscape very hostile for potential entrepreneurs and the information you can find online for starting a business in Spain is complex to navigate. This is where Guía Emprendedor comes into place!

What it does

Guía Emprendedor is an online platform that helps you navigate the creation of a business in Spain, without fear and without getting lost in paperwork.

Your journey starts filling in a form that outputs a free diagnosis of your situation and proposes you a tailored legal form out of the three principal Spanish legal forms: Self-Employed, Limit Company and Public Limited Company (SA).

When you enter the platform with your paid plan, you are able to see the full list of steps you need to undergo in order to register your business. There is an AI analyzer that reads your form responses and suggests some extra steps tailored to your own situation. If you accept them, they will be added into your roadmap, in the right order and with dependencies on existing steps.

The platform also offers an AI assistant that receives your full project knowledge, steps and status to answer you with the full context. This agent is very useful in practice and you don't need to paste your whole project status every time you want to interact with it. Hidden feature: You can even ask him to add a step into your itinerary.

Another big piece of the project is document management. We offer to host the necessary documentation into the itinerary steps themselves. The documents can be reused across steps. Later, they can then easily be exported in the "Prepare your appointment" helper or as a full project brief.

The two extra features are to share a feedback on the application that can be published on the Landing page, and a form to get help.

Our initial idea was to create an Advisor marketplace from there. It would have been very handy to be able to contact an advisor directly from the platform and share your full dossier automatically. The legal advisors would have been accepted manually into the platform for a small yearly fee and put in direct contact with the users of my platform. To our knowledge, this kind of marketplace is inexistent today in Spain. The code has been implemented in the repository but we ultimately had to disable the feature for reasons explained later.

How we built it

The platform started on emergent.sh where we created the first mockup. I wanted to test that website since a long time ago. After a couple of days, we migrated it to a modern infrastructure: Cloud Run for our Fast API (python), Firebase Hosting for our frontend, and Firestore with MongoDB compatibility for our database. We also even have an isolated container running that scans the user's documents for viruses. Production costs are very low. I use the Gemini API to call Gemini 3.5 Flash with structured output and requests are pretty cheap. Our infrastructure is very scalable.

The development process has primarily involved iterating with AI, followed by human review and refinement. I have CI/CD thanks to GitHub and GitHub Actions. The development has been pretty smooth and the platform was ready in a couple of weeks!

On the functional side, I was validating my ideas and the AI outputs about the company creation process with my friend who is a gestor here in Spain.

Challenges we ran into

The first challenge has been navigating this modern infrastructure I had never worked on. It was the first website I deployed a website on Google Cloud Platform. Once everything was configured, it was great working and iterating!

The second challenge has been the GitHub downtimes. GitHub Actions and PR creation features have been down hours lately and this has fiercely delayed my time to market.

Next, Google Ads... I think Google Ads should use my CI/CD workflow. I tried to create an account last Friday but the frontend was not sending what the backend was expecting and it was impossible to even enter Google Ads. I was forced to make a campaign, but campaigns were impossible to make. The workaround I found was to use the mobile app on my phone. But this has delayed my go live 1 full day.

Also, dynamic translations of the website to English has been a real hustle. This was needed so that you guys can navigate the website. However, it used a lot more of my time than what I initially imagined.

Finally and maybe the most deceptive one, is that we ran out of time. I discovered the challenge around July 30th and started building right away, but it hadn't let me enough time to navigate such a difficult market with a so advanced ideation. To be able to use Stripe Managed Payments, I had to let go the whole services side of the platform and let the Advisor marketplace aside. I hope I can start building it once I sort out Stripe Payments because this is the feature I was the most excited about.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

How not to be proud of this project? It is polished, beautiful, and fully functional. I am amazed of what I've done.

For example, I'm very proud that I've run my first ads! And they worked great with almost 4% CTR and even 7% for some asset group. I'm very proud I now have a website running on Cloud Run and for which future development is smooth and quick. I'm proud of my first Python backend! (I normally use Node.) I even have a system scanning for viruses when someone upload a document into the platform! Isn't this amazing? I'm also very proud of the security I implemented around user documents: per-user storage isolation, scanning for viruses, etc.

And above all, I'm proud of the integrations I made with Gemini-3.5-flash. This is the first time I use structured output with an AI Agent API. It is crazy how powerful this is. I hope I can integrate it in later projects.

What we learned

I learned so much about the Google Cloud Platform and Google Ads. Basically everything. I also learned a lot about modern web infrastructure. I also learned a lot about SEO and marketing. I think my web is fully SEO-optimized!

I've also learned how to properly work with Codex inside Visual Studio Code. Which model to ask, which documentation to write, and which tests to run. This has been very valuable and the skills acquired are transferable to my data engineer every-day job.

Guía Emprendedor is already helping me in real life

I asked Guía Emprendedor the steps to create a mobile app company and it has suggested me steps I never even thought of. Based on my answers, an SLU is the structure that best fits my project. It also helps me avoid leaving easy-to-postpone matters until the end, such as preparing privacy information and checking the data-protection obligations that may apply, including the GDPR and Spanish law.

What's next for Guía Emprendedor

Next is milestone 2 of course! I'm still trying to get traction and have some users and customers and I still need to fix some minor bugs. I am in beta phase collecting user feedback. I would like to build the Advisor marketplace as I already have lead advisors who agreed to be on my platform. This will also add traction to bring users that will maybe turn into customers.

I also would like to research and start the formalities to get certified about the platform content and the data it holds as I host very sensitive user data.

Additionally, the primary idea was to create a platform that is reusable and transferrable to other countries with other administrative structures. I think that this can be achieved quite easily with the base I built. We would just need to create other sets of itineraries, one specific set for each country, then validate them with a legal advisor from the target country.

Now, users have access to the platform during 6 months. I then have 6 months to build a product that actual entrepreneurs will use. I'm thinking about an accounting platform, ERP, CRM, or similar.

And of course, the bold goal would be to be the first platform to fully integrate with and automate Spanish administration for company creation!
