Inspiration

• Wanting to create a place with many tools for user empowerment.
• Relating to the prompt and own personal feelings of discouragement in the job application process.

What it does

• Uses different smart tools to empower users in the job application process
  • AI Chat Bot (HERa): A 24/7 support chat that builds confidence and provides interview prep.
  • Resume Scorer: Uses an algorithm to score a resume based on the role being applied for.
  • Events: Shows upcoming events for networking, resume reviewing, bootcamps, and other skills workshops.
  • Resources: A page with other websites and materials to help empower women in skills, networking, and mental health.
  • 7 Day Application Prep: A guided 7 day checklist for job application that helps build confidence during the process.

How we built it

• Built through VS Code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Algorithm for the resume scorer was built using open source AI Resume Analyzer which uses TF-IDF, cosine similarity, and keyword index to assess resume-to-job relevance.

Challenges we ran into

• Finding a program that allows for collaborative web development
• Finding a program that allows for both front-end and back-end development

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Implementing an AI Chat Bot into the website
• Creating a functioning and well-designed website

What we learned

• When collaborating with others, focusing on each individuals strengths allowed for the best final product.

What's next for EmpowHER

• We will continue working to empower women and our users in the job application process.
• Expand the implementation of our events page and being able to publicize the website.
• Train the AI model to read and write resumes.
