Empower Disabled

💡 Inspiration

Millions of people with disabilities are struggling to cope with their obstacles, whether it's doing daily duties or finding equitable employment possibilities in the global job market. According to estimates, 80% to 90% of people with impairments of working age are unemployed in underdeveloped countries. In most developed countries, the official unemployment rate for people of working age with disabilities is at least twice that of people without disabilities. So we devised a commendable piece of technology for disabled people that is easier to use than ever before and has a big impact on their life.

💻 What it does

Features in Empower Disabled are designed to make personal and professional life easier. The following features are included: After a one-of-a-kind user login—

It makes recommendations depending on the user's impairment, allowing them to interact with and learn daily life hacks in new ways, allowing them to be more self-sufficient in their activities and duties.
It enables people with limited mobility to buy online; they can now order medical supplies and have them delivered to their doorstep.
It displays job positions that are available to potential candidates who have the indicated impairment. In addition, we've included a text-to-speech feature in our software so that people with vision impairments can get some help.

⚙️ How we built it

We began by creating a minimalistic user interface (UI) specially designed to take into account their problems and later worked on HTML/CSS/JS to create the web application, we linked each medical item to their respective shopping site and personalized daily life hack videos to YouTube.

🔐 MLH- Best Blockchain Project Using Hedera

We are using Hedera’s testnet to make a decentralized chatroom. Hedera is a decentralized public network that utilizes the Hashgraph consensus algorithm to overcome the traditional limitations of blockchain and allow one to create the next era of fast, fair, and secure applications.

🧠 Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time coming up with solutions that could cater to the actual needs of the disabled population without making them feel any less than ordinary individuals.

We are proud that we now understand how to integrate links as they are vital tools for businesses in all industries and we are glad that we were able to assemble a solution to assist the disabled population and manage our features to work quickly and on schedule.

We will integrate ML/AI to present users with suggestions depending on the videos they watch, a job-matching platform to showcase skills and capabilities through videos and Machine Learning, we will keep the train of thorough continuing by providing customized newsletters based on their interest, highlighting successful people having disabilities as an inspiration, and providing calendar notifications for their necessary appointments and speech-to-text feature.
