Inspiration
I was inspired by the people around me and the challenges they face, as well as my background as an immigrant whose family also encountered similar issues. This motivated me to create a solution to support first-generation low-income (FGLI) students.
What it does
Empower supports FGLI students by providing:
- Financial Resources: Tools for budgeting, saving, and managing finances.
- Career Planning: Access to job listings, internships, and career advice.
- Networking Opportunities: Information on events and community-building activities.
How we built it
Platform: I used Adalo, a no-code platform, to build and design the app. This is a pitch idea, demonstrating the concept and potential features of Empower.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating and obtaining data from external APIs proved to be challenging, particularly in ensuring the data was accurate and up-to-date.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully figuring out the basic functions of Adalo and leveraging its usability to create a functional prototype.
What we learned
Gained insight into the different aspects and technical requirements of app development, including handling unforeseen errors and debugging.
What's next for Empower App Pitch
I aim to continue developing this app, refining it as a no-code solution initially. Eventually, I plan to transition to a fully coded version to enhance functionality and scalability.
