Expand your empire by completing focus missions and create buildings
Co-pilots help users stay focus by texting the user to go back to studying if they stop the mission
A variety of buildings, missions, and time focus sessions to choose from!
Unlock each planet with more missions. Each planet comes with new terrains and new buildings
Being college students, we know firsthand how difficult it can be to stay motivated and productive. We wanted to create a fun solution to help students work towards becoming their best selves with the help of those closest to them while making 'staying focused' exciting! Empire was created as a solution to solve the lack of motivation to study with accountability partners which is scientifically proven to increase performance. By having friends or someone who cares about your performance encourages you to study if you lose focus, Empire provides a way for communication to be seamlessly automatic.
What it does 👩🚀
Empire aims to make the task of staying focused easier for students with the help of gamification and accountability partners. Students enrol as cadets and enlist their accountability partners as co-pilots. Co-pilots join our cadets on different focus missions to keep them on track. The more missions you complete the bigger your galactic empire becomes!
How I built it 🚀
We conducted user interviews, surveys and carried out secondary research to learn more about our target users, their pain points, motivations and goals. We went through numerous design sprints to produce our MVP with the help of our mentor. We went through multiple iterations through Figma starting from sketches, to lofi designs, and now with our prototype.
Challenges I ran into ☄️
After conducting our initial user research survey we realized that some of our assumptions were not correct. Also, coordinating work was a challenge at times as some of us were operating in different time-zones but we were able to work through that.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of 👽
We’re proud of our MVP prototype and the cool story and adventure it brings the user on. We received really positive feedback on the prototype from our mentor and users which was very encouraging. We are also proud of how we were able to analyse the data from our initial survey and quickly pivot towards a solution that addresses a real user need.
What I learned 👾
Coming from Tech and Marketing backgrounds this project was definitely a crash course on UI/UX Design and designing with the user in mind. We also got more familiar with Figma which was a huge bonus. As well as improving our design skills we got to practice showing user empathy, carrying out customer interviews, conducting research and designing a system at a high-level. This project has been a great way to learn about the product development lifecycle.
What's next for Empire ☀️
We hope to run some more user usability tests on our current prototype and update it based on more user feedback
