Inspiration
We wanted to make picture taking/sharing more fun!
What it does
You take a selfie and we figure out what emotion you're feeling and add extra touches to the image.
How I built it
We did Android development and node.js. We used the Microsoft Project Oxford API for the emotion and face detection and deployed to AWS
Challenges I ran into
Sending the image to the server takes quite a lot of time so we had to compress the bitmap.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We've posted a lot of photos to Twitter and Facebook Messenger! People enjoyed this application and we would love to further improve it.
What I learned
Twitter Fabric and Facebook Messenger sharing implementation in Android, implementing a preview screen for the front camera, and communication of the phone, server, and Microsoft Oxford Project APIs through RESTful APIs.
What's next for EmotiPic
iOS and streaming emotion animations.
