🌟 EmotionQuest – Feel Better, One Tiny Quest at a Time
🎯 What Inspired Us
We noticed that most mental health and mood apps either feel too clinical or too passive—track your mood, write in a journal, meditate quietly. But when you're anxious, sad, or mentally stuck, what you often need is motion, play, and something to shift your state quickly. Inspired by that, we asked:
What if emotional support felt like a playful adventure instead of a checklist?
That’s how EmotionQuest was born—a pocket-sized emotional reset button through fun, 3–5 minute “quests.”
🧠 What We Learned
We explored behavioral science around micro-actions, dopamine loops, and emotional inertia. We learned that short, novel, and gamified tasks can genuinely lift a user’s mood—especially when they’re delivered with care, warmth, and low pressure. We also studied user engagement trends from meditation and journaling apps to identify what causes drop-offs and how to avoid them.
🛠️ How We Built It
We used Bolt and chatgpt to rapidly prototype and deploy the app as a PWA, combining:
- Tailwind CSS for a soft, playful UI
- A mood selector and quest engine
- LocalStorage for mood history and rewards
- A gamified feedback loop with calming visuals and micro-rewards
- Optional GPT-powered tips based on user mood
🚧 Challenges We Faced
- Balancing fun with emotional safety: Making sure quests are light and uplifting without feeling dismissive of deeper feelings.
- Keeping it simple: Cutting down on features to stay within our 7-day window, without losing charm.
- PWA responsiveness: Ensuring it felt native-like across both iOS and Android.
