Inspiration

I got inspired by the people online that had gotten image recognition online. I wanted to do something like that!

What it does

It scans the face of the person and records their emotion every 1 second. It then takes that pattern to check against its pre-recorded "password" if it matches to allows entry, if not then it denies.

How we built it

We used python to build the actual mechanism that scans the face an makes the password. We also used HTML and CSS to make the website that hosts the executable. Our singular JavaScript file is what manages the button that runs the python script

Challenges we ran into

I had a terrible time getting my python packages to work, I consistently ran into errors and the solution was to actually downgrade my virtual environment to python 3.11, since all my packages were reliant on a specific library that was only available on python 3.11

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our team has little to no experience working with HTML and CSS, so having to learn all that lead to a website that we can be proud of. We are also extremely proud of the actual python program where it can scan the faces

What we learned

I learned so much about python and the libraries that we had to work around to get what we needed. I also learned a lot about HTML, mainly that I do not understand it as well as my teammates.

What's next for EmotiLock

Our team wants to incorporate encryption for the data, so the passkey is even more secure. I also want to include a Neural Network to make the facial scanner even more conclusive.
