Inspiration
This is my very first hackathon! The core inspiration for "Emojiki" was to create a fun experience entirely free of language barriers. I wanted to build something intuitive that anyone in the world could instantly understand and play without reading a single word.
What it does
It is a physics-based action game where you shoot emojis just like playing billiards. Currently, it is a mockup version that demonstrates the core interactive physics.
How we built it
I built it using the Reddit Devvit platform and TypeScript.
Challenges we ran into
Since this was my first time participating in a hackathon and my first time using the Devvit platform, understanding the unique project structure and deployment process was a big challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I also achieved my goal of designing a UI that relies only on emojis, without any text. Additionally, I optimized the build to stay extremely lightweight (around 11MB), ensuring a smooth, fast loading experience for players, even with limited bandwidth.
What we learned
I learned the fundamentals of building and deploying apps on Reddit, and experienced the thrilling, fast-paced environment of hackathon development.
What's next for Emojiki
I plan to add more levels, different types of emojis with unique physical behaviors, and a scoring system to polish this mockup into a fully released game!
