We wanted to build something with music and emojis.

What it does

The user inputs a number of emoji on the webapp. The app generates a Spotify playlist based on the emojis.

How I built it

A React front-end calls a heroku-hosted python flask deployment, which computes attributes based on user inputted emojis. Those attributes are then passed onto the Spotify playlist generator, which creates a playlist on the user's account based on those attributes.

Challenges I ran into

The Spotify API is not the friendliest API to work with due to difficulty parsing responses. Image rendering based on API requests were challenging. Also, we originally tried to deploy using stdlib, but were unsuccessful, eventually switching to flask.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Making the damn thing work.

What I learned

Javascript is not friendly for beginners. Learned how to deploy on heroku. React states.

What's next for Emoji Playlist Generator

It goes to our resumes! Also, sentiment analysis on a google chrome which generates spotify playlist is next.
