What it does
Its a review tool that judges a users emotions over the cold facts of a statement, providing a more user guided review of a product or service.
How we built it
We used node.js to build a box in which users can continuosly enter opinions, and it passes it into a database built using mongodb and mongoose, storing all the texts. Once the program is run it calculated the emotional value using polarity api, but highly tweaked to suit our product. Then it displays the overall feelings of the group as a final number as well as all the reviews in the database and their relative emotions.
Challenges we ran into
Everything used in this product was learnt from scratch, we also ran into a huge error where we could only retrieve one value from our server which we managed to fix.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We´re proud of how far we´ve come in the relatively short time of 24 hours, we had no prior knowledge of how to do build this product and by the end we mangaged to gain a lot of knowledge about how to code a web server, how to use javascript effectively in this project, how to implement and edit the back end of an API and much more.
What's next for EmoBot
In an ideal world with more time we would like to format the exported data to a document in order to build a bespoke report. we would have also liked to have tweaked the API more to make it more suited or to go even further to build our own custom API which would be cutom made for our product.
