Description of application: This application helps user understand the need for us to reduce Carbon Emission, and how user can contribute to this individually. The app will allow the user to ‘commit’ to climate change by letting them set an emissions reduction goal. A commitment is a selectable climate action. The user has the option to select from a myriad of climate actions that each have an associated emissions reduction result. An example of a climate action is reducing the amount of red meat eaten by 1kg/month. Reducing red meat consumption will offset 10kg carbon-equivalent emissions per year

Motivation: Governments, businesses, and individuals across the world are making commitments to reduce carbon emissions in order to limit climate change. These commitments are made in order to hold global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Holding warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels could limit the most dangerous and irreversible effects of climate change (Mckinsey & Co., 2019).

There are multiple reduction options to limit emissions, ranging from transportation, industrials, agriculture, forestry, and consumption. However, it will be undoubtedly hard to inspire behavorial change at the consumer level. This application will allow users to keep track of their commitments to reduce the worst impacts of global climate change.
