Inspiration

We were inspired by our own insurance experiences to create better and improved experiences

What it does

✅ Allows user to quickly find nearest healthcare provider covered by insurance (or any) ✅ Allows user to filter healthcare providers by needed care (e.g., surgery) ✅ Can follow and interact with insurance claims (what is today done by email and causes confusion and possible data loss - confusion of many forwarded emails with documents) ✅ Reduces cost for insurance companies, as information lookup does not need to be done by a salaried employee; customer does it on their own ✅ Is built as user friendly UX

How we built it

First we shared our experiences with insurance - what inconveniences or lack of good service we had. Then we brainstormed solutions. Afterwards we designed the database schema - and put a lot of care into it - so we pretty much didn't have to change it. And then we started to create design sketches with Figma and in parallel also frontend and backend setup and development. And of course, a bit of beer and a lot of laughs!

Challenges we ran into

We had several hurdles along the way, including slow internet causing package downloads/installations to fail, tools breaking down or stopping working for no visible reason. We also wanted to try our luck at as many events as we could, while simultenously trying to hack - which was quite a challenge of its own.

Accomplishments that we're proud of (D, R)

We are proud that we managed to make a functional application in such a short time. We managed to collaborate and fulfill the tasks in the team.

What we learned (O, D)

In Codex hackaton we learned how to use advanced features in Figma, a bit of React, some Spring Boot and a bit PostgreSQL and how to stay awake 24h 🤪

What's next for Emergn demo app (R)

We can improve map logic, by adding more filters and data it, f.e. doctors and their availability. Additionally we plan to add integration with native device health care apps, that would give us data about its owners healthy life style and based on that we would calculate and award user with some insurance discounts.
