As I'm writing my first mid-term of the year in business school, I feel a sudden jerk. It happened again and then realized everyone else was experiencing it as well. By the time I had realized that it was an earth quake, it had passed. What surprised me the most was not the experience, but how more than 500 educated Pakistanis reacted to the event. No reaction!
That event gave me insight on what I wanted to pursue in my career, Disaster Management. There is a lack of social awareness on this matter. The general public, educational institutions, small businesses and corporations are not well educated to handle various scenarios.
To start off, we are targeting smartphone users who have access to an app that will provide easily accessible education on how to handle medical emergencies, natural/man made disasters.
Having information readily available to the local public.
The hope is that going forward, when there is a situation that needs to be dealt with, a person will already have the knowledge and know how instead of having to stand on the sidelines.
