Inspiration

At the start of the hackathon, I wanted to test how far I could go using only the Meta Horizon Worlds Editor and GenAI tools - no external software, no imports, no exceptions.
So I gave myself a challenge:
Could I build a complete game entirely inside Horizon from start to finish?
The result was something fast, absurd, remixable, and a little too relatable - EMERGENCY TOILET PAPER SHOPPING.

What it does

It’s a super-fast 25-second solo game where your only mission is simple:
Grab as much toilet paper as you can before time runs out!
There’s nothing else in the supermarket - just you, the ticking clock, and hundreds of toilet paper rolls scattered all over the floor.
It’s chaotic, funny, and over before you can even process what just happened.

How we built it

Everything was built completely inside Horizon Worlds Editor:

  • Gameplay logic written with GenAI coding tools
  • 3D models, props, and even the custom skydome lighting were generated through GenAI

My main goal was to prove that a complete game prototype can be made 100% inside Horizon, using creativity instead of external assets.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was creating it without importing a single external asset.
I wanted to make a very simple, accessible game that anyone could play - so I made sure it runs perfectly on both VR and mobile, while still being built entirely with GenAI tools inside Horizon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The entire experience was built inside Horizon, powered purely by GenAI tools
  • It’s short, funny, and instantly brings players joy in under 30 seconds
  • The project is now remixable - anyone can clone the world and make their own version of the chaos

This wasn’t a requirement for the hackathon, but I decided to make the world remixable because other players deserve more games and a chance to better understand and explore the Meta Horizon Worlds Editor.

What we learned

I learned that constraints can lead to the best ideas.
Working fully within Horizon’s GenAI ecosystem pushed me to think differently how to make fun emerge from the simplest possible setup.

What's next for EMERGENCY TOILET PAPER SHOPPING

Next up: multiplayer madness!
I want players to race in real time for toilet paper rolls, bump into each other, and compete for the glorious title of “Toilet Paper Champion.”
I also plan to add random chaos events and new store layouts for even more replayable absurdity.
