Inspiration
As an EMT-B it is often difficult to practice and retain the lengthy scene size up procedures and protocol. We wanted to use VR to help EMT-Bs touch up on their skills and give patients the best quality patient care.
What it does
This is a simulator to help train EMTs learn the repetitive tasks that they must perform so that when they are on a real emergency scene, they are able to perform it from muscle memory.
How we built it
We used Unity and OpenXR to work with the Quest.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the controls to work smoothly was of great difficulty, and the city scene made in Blender wouldn't run at a good FPS.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a control system that feels natural and realistic.
What we learned
How to make a VR game in Unity.
What's next for Emergency Medical Technician Simulator
Adding more scenarios for the player to train on, such as gunshot wounds, broken bones, etc.
