Inspiration - My uncle passed away due to heart attack when no one was in the house. That was the time i realized there should be some tool to help people in emergencies in situations like this with more advanced features. Because no one should die alone, struggling to reach a phone that wasn’t designed for real emergencies.
What it does - It is a powerful emergency SOS MVP designed to protect you in critical moments with just a voice command or a single tap. It has voice-activated emergency mode: speak a secret keyword, and emergency buddy immediately springs into action. Let's say the user has epilepsy and needs urgent help. He/she will just call out the phrase like 'help me', etc. The system is activated. The user can cancel if it is activated by mistake. It starts calling emergency contacts and recording simultaneously.
How we built it -Being a complete newbie, we faced a lot of problems in searching for the best AI, also we are unable to find any of them free with unlimited credits. So, at last, we used lovable to make a working website, by giving it prompt.
Challenges we ran into - Finding a topic as we were confused due to no prior experience, finding appropriate websites and making them work as per the need, debugging the MVP generated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - We created an application for the first time, did all the work from creation to editing and then submission all in just a few hrs, got to explore more and attend different sessions.
What we learned - Vibe coding, giving appropriate prompts, learn to use AI, teamwork, time management.
What's next for Emergency Buddy - Being the last moment application, it has a lot of flaws, which we will try to improve. Emergency apps must work instantly, even with poor connectivity or low battery. Test for edge cases. Implement measures to prevent accidental alerts and misuse. If the app grows, ensure backend infrastructure can handle spikes in usage, especially during local crises.
