Inspiration
Our family and friends have endured countless natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires, often feeling abandoned and overwhelmed. Each time, we witnessed their struggles as they navigated the aftermath with limited assistance from authorities and resources. This shared experience highlighted the urgent need for a reliable support system that could provide timely help and information. Driven by their stories, we set out to create a solution that connects communities during crises, ensuring no one has to face these challenges alone.
What it does
Our app is an essential resource for emergency information, keeping you updated on local conditions like wind speed, temperature, and alerts. It offers quick access to call emergency services and find nearby assistance, along with an interactive map that displays ongoing incidents. In addition, we provide valuable tips on how to prepare for disasters before they strike. Our platform also encourages community communication, allowing users to express their needs and support one another, fostering a stronger, more connected neighborhood during times of crisis.
How we built it
We use a lot of dedication, patience, and communication.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges during development, one of which was our Git repository not syncing properly, causing issues with version control and collaboration. This led to confusion among team members as we tried to merge changes and track progress. Additionally, we faced difficulties in integrating real-time data feeds, which required extensive troubleshooting and adjustments. Despite these setbacks, we learned to communicate more effectively and adapt our workflow, ultimately strengthening our project and teamwork.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
We learned the basics of React-Native and connected with the team members to reach a common goal. We learned that working on the project was as teamed not being scared to change plans and just doing work to learn skills to get the project done in the time we had, as a team.
