After watching the news report the victims of the horrible hurricanes, we brainstormed ideas to help prevent deaths. We came up with Emergedrone, a special drone that has six compartments for various things that are crucial to life, such as first-aid, water, and enough food to last two weeks for two people. We hope that Emergedrone will allow for significantly more time for rescuers to find people after natural disasters. We built the Emergedrone prototype using cardboard and straws to divide the compartments. Had we the materials, Emergedrone would be built using carbon fiber, an eco-friendly, aerodynamic material. We programmed Emergedrone using javascript; javascript was a huge challenge because none of us really knew how to code in this language, so it took us around 10 hours to accomplish this, but we are very proud now that we did it. However, we will not be able to show our code working because we do not have the materials to do so, unfortunately. We learned that, no matter how tedious an obstacle may seem, persistence is the key to overcoming it. With global warming causing even more dangerous, strong storms, we hope that Emergedrone will save countless lives in the coming years.
