We are a group of women who are from, or have parents who were from other parts of the world. We understand the challenges of adjusting to living in a foreign place. Hence, we strive to make the transition easier.
What it does
We offer services and programs through various online programs, such as workshops and seminars.
How we built it
We spent the first few hours understanding our goals with this project. We brainstormed and planned the layout through a Miro board. We split into two teams working on front end, and back end.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered some challenges with HTML and CSS styling, getting things to be where we want it to be. We also had problems with registration page where we want to toggle the submit buttons, and set password validation. Lastly, collaborating online was definitely challenging since our knowledge of github isn't the same across the members.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our idea. The landing page captures our vision to create a platform for helping new immigrants be healthy, confident, and successful.
What we learned
We learned how to work as a team to complete assigned tasks under time pressure and how to combine our coding knowledge and put it into practise. Some members learned how to work with Github and merge codes. We also learn that prototyping is a useful skill.
What's next for Embrace Foundation
We hope to have this project sponsored by the government so we can receive funding to make this a reality!
