Inspiration
We have been using virtual try-ons in our family for a while, because we love shopping online. But then, in January this year, my partner got pregnant. And we faced with a unique dilemma, which is that her body and face and size changed quickly. We realized that whenever we planned for fashion, it was weeks in advance, but what do you do when you don't know how you'd look in 2-3 weeks, and how your existing clothes will look then (not now, not when you bought them). This project is our attempt in solving this problem. Peri/menopause, postpartum, retinoids, thyroid, pregnant, heat. We are for who fashion and beauty industry missed
What it does
You scan 3 pictures, preferably daily. You can use our mobile app. It gives you 3 looks that can work now and within 14 days based on what you have in your closet, as well as what might look good on you. You also get a 14-day skin protocol to get ready for when you'd actually wear it. A theatre to see how you'd look when you'll wear it. And most importably a live available clothing that'll fit your skin so you can easily shop. That's actually our long-term business model -- affiliate commission on clothes that our clients buy.
How we built it
We built it using Youcam's APIs as well as SerpApi (for live shopping results). The webapp is Next.js and mobile app uses Expo.
Challenges we ran into
In the ideation itself. We took several notes from other pregnant friends and groups we're part of. We wanted to make something the community wanted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we ourselves have found a few clothes based to wear after delivery :)
What we learned
We learned that building solid experiences requires multiple different APIs and tools. Youcam provides everything technical that forms the backbone of the project, but we need SerpApi for shopping and future revenue.
What's next for Ember
We would polish it further and put it on the App Store.
