Inspiration
I've heard my friends' constant nagging on the dating apps; how it gets so boring because of null conversations and repeating openers, how they don't actually find anyone to meet up etc. Especially when they visit a new town for a short time. This inspired me to make an app similar to the blind dating, but then my discovery process showed that people don't want to actually just go on blind dates with people they don't know (unless someone they know sets it up). on the dating apps or inappropriate requests, and how hard it is to actually find someone to just have a cup of coffee.
What it does
Ember is a dating app to actually make people go on dates. Users match, they propose each other a date, and once both side agrees, they can chat for further details. Simple as that.
How we built it
I've used Bolt.new entirely, with a little bit of prompting help from Google's AI Studio.
Challenges we ran into
It was especially hard to create a working functioning app due to Bolt not exiting the demo mode, but I used it to create a good landing page and an interactive demo, so we can check the user interest.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of my user interviews, which led me to understand dating app users' mindset, and I even found 3 potential co-founders who want to build this with me.
What we learned
I should put more time into developing a proper database structure for actual users with Supabase so we can go live.
What's next for Ember
Creating Instagram ads and checking user interest, so I can validate the idea and product.
