About the Project

Inspiration

Embedded C development can be challenging for beginners because compiler errors, pointer issues, syntax mistakes, and hardware-related code problems are often difficult to understand. We wanted to build a tool that makes debugging Embedded C simpler, faster, and more understandable.

What We Built

EmbedDebug AI is an AI-powered assistant designed to help developers analyze and debug Embedded C code. Users can provide their code and error messages, and the system analyzes the problem, explains the possible cause in simple terms, and suggests a fix.

The project focuses on combining AI with Embedded Systems development to reduce the time spent understanding common coding and debugging issues.

How We Built It

We built the project with a web-based frontend connected to a backend AI service. The frontend provides an easy interface for entering Embedded C code and viewing debugging results. The backend processes the code and error information and uses AI to generate explanations and suggestions.

Technologies used include:

  • Embedded C
  • AI / LLM
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • React
  • Node.js
  • Web-based development

What We Learned

Through this project, we learned how to connect an AI model with a practical developer tool, design an interface for code analysis, handle frontend-backend communication, and structure AI-generated debugging responses.

We also gained a better understanding of how AI can support Embedded Systems and software development workflows.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was making the AI responses useful for Embedded C-specific problems rather than providing only generic programming suggestions. Connecting the frontend with the backend AI service and handling errors reliably were also important challenges.

This project helped us understand how AI can be applied to make Embedded C development more accessible and efficient for students and developers.
