Inspiration
We took inspiration from Grailed, H&M, sneakerhead raffles, and Twitch.tv when creating our webpage and our proposed ideas (conceptual UI's can be seen in our video). We wanted the EMAJJ website to look modern, upbeat, fun, and create excitement for users while streamlining customer navigation of the site, matching the company's core goals.
What it does
Our webpage effectively displays our ideas for the overall layout. However, we were unable to program hyperlinks that would take you to individual pages to show each product, which would be ideal.
How we built it
Using Visual Studio, we created the layout of the website. The products & logo were designed using PicsArt and Photoshop, saved, and then implemented into our website.
Challenges we ran into
With all team members having beginner-level coding experience, our biggest struggle was learning how to code in Visual Studio. We came across problems with formatting, some of which we were able to reconcile, but we had to scrap a couple of things due to lack of experience. If given more time to gain a better understanding of Visual Studio, we would have loved to customize our website to appear more similar to our concept art layouts. Other challenges include unpredictable availability & differences in ideas, all of which were eventually fixed through compromise and communication.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the website, as it was able to run & show our thought process, painting a picture of what the EMAJJ online store might look like. We are also proud of our presentation & concept art, and our proposed solution for creating a unique competitive advantage for EMAJJ in a concentrated online market.
What we learned
We learned the basics of Visual Code, the importance of creating notes within code, and gained experience in remaining flexible during projects, as availability times throughout the project were sporadic & problems concerning cooperation between teammates were encountered frequently.
What's next for EMAJJ StreetSmartwear
In the future, we would love to continue working on our project in our free time to eventually fulfill our initial vision & create an exciting, aesthetically pleasing website for EMAJJ StreetSmartwear.
