Inspiration
Saving people time and learning new things!
What it does
Connects to your Outlook email account, allowing you to view messages in your inbox. Our parser searches the messages for patterns that it recognizes as email addresses and dates and lets you quickly add the information to your contacts.
How I built it
We used Microsoft Visual Studio with C# to create a Windows forms application that interacts with the Microsoft Outlook API.
Challenges I ran into
We had difficulty getting all of the correct packages and libraries to work together in our project, and we were all inexperienced using Visual Studio and C#, so we had to learn a ton of new things.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is the first app I've developed that connects to the internet and uses a development enviroment that is totally new to me!
What I learned
I learned a lot about regular expressions through the pattern matching in our parser. Also I learned a great deal of syntax and tricks for Visual C# which I had not had much experience with.
What's next for Email Parse
We would like to connect that application to the Windows Calander app to be able to automatically schedule events from our interface. We would also like to make the contact information in our address book more detailed.
