What it does: It allows user to listen to emails, allows them to open the email, and gives them the option to delete email.
How we built it: We used Google's Gmail API, the Web Speech API, JavaScript, HTML, and Python Server.
Challenges we ran into: Getting Python Server to run, getting JavaScript functions to run in order, and learning how to implement the APIs (logic and syntax).
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We created something with APIs, which we have never done before. It was cool to program something that would be useful in the real world.
What we learned: We learned how to use the Gmail API, Web Speech API, and became more familiar with JavaScript.
What's next for Email Keeper: Fixing the error where the Web Speech API is picking up its own voice. We also want it to be able to send reply emails. Also, we want to incorporate IBM Watson API to understand user input intuitively. In the future, this could be developed into an app (which was what we at first had in mind), and could be extended to other services in order to enhance productivity and bring a hands-free experience to the user. This would ultimately become a pocket A.I that helps to manage your life.
