Inspiration

Growing up neurodiverse in a neurotypical world, I've spent my entire career trying to decode the hidden meanings in workplace communication. "We need to talk" from my manager would send me spiraling for hours, was I in trouble, or did they just need to discuss the project timeline?

When AI emerged, I was grieving the loss of my father while struggling to learn traditional coding. For years, I'd hit walls trying to understand programming concepts, but my dad's long term illness made focus nearly impossible. After he passed, something shifted. I discovered AI tools and, with my ADHD hyper fixation kicking in, I became completely immersed. Finally, I could focus amd build the solutions I'd always envisioned.

This wasn't just about learning new technology it was about using AI for good. AI changed my life and I wanted to help others in the same way.

The same ADHD that made traditional coding feel impossible made me obsessively perfect at prompt engineering and AI integration. I found an incredible community of builders who understood that neurodiversity isn't a limitation, it's a different way of thinking that can drive innovation.

My mission became clear: use AI to level the playing field for other neurodiverse professionals who, like me, have brilliant minds but struggle with the unwritten rules of workplace communication.

What it does

Elucidare is the world's first AI-powered communication coach designed specifically for neurodiverse professionals. It transforms workplace anxiety into workplace confidence through three core features:

  1. Tone Analyzer: analyzes incoming messages and breaks down the emotional tone with precision - is your manager being direct (70% professional, 20% urgent) or actually frustrated? No more spending hours overthinking a simple Slack message.

  2. Script Generator: generates three perfectly tailored response options for any workplace situation. Describe your scenario (declining a meeting, requesting a deadline extension, following up on feedback) and receive casual, professional, and direct response scripts with explanations of why each approach works.

  3. VoicePractice (Premium) converts your scripts to natural speech using advanced AI voices, letting you rehearse important conversations and emails before sending them. Practice your tone, timing, and delivery until you feel confident.

The app tracks your usage, saves successful scripts to a personal library, and learns your communication style, creating a personalized toolkit that grows more valuable over time.

How we built it

Built entirely inside Bolt.new as a solo developer, Elucidare showcases the power of modern AI-assisted development. This full-stack application demonstrates what's possible when neurodiverse minds meet cutting-edge tools.

Frontend : React with Vite and TypeScript for type safety, styled with Tailwind CSS for responsive, accessible design that meets WCAG guidelines for neurodiverse users. Backend: Supabase provides the complete backend infrastructure - authentication with row-level security, PostgreSQL database with real-time subscriptions, and Edge Functions for secure API integrations. AI: OpenAI's GPT-4 powers sophisticated tone analysis and context-aware script generation, while ElevenLabs delivers ultra-realistic voice synthesis for practice mode. Payments: Stripe handles subscription management and billing with webhooks for real-time status updates. Monitoring: Sentry provides comprehensive error tracking and performance monitoring for production-ready reliability. Deployment: Netlify hosts the frontend with global CDN distribution, while Supabase manages backend infrastructure with automatic scaling.

Every line of code was written inside Bolt.new, proving that complex, production-ready applications can be built entirely within AI-powered development environments.

Challenges we ran into

Building a sophisticated AI application as a solo developer with no traditional coding background presented unique challenges. Implementing real-time usage tracking while maintaining GDPR compliance required deep dives into Supabase's row-level security policies. Integrating multiple APIs (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Stripe) through Supabase Edge Functions demanded understanding serverless architecture and webhook management. The biggest technical hurdle was ensuring voice synthesis worked seamlessly across all devices while managing API costs for sustainable unit economics. Perhaps the greatest challenge was balancing feature complexity with the predictable, non-overwhelming user experience that neurodiverse users require. Every design decision needed to consider cognitive load, sensory processing differences, and the need for consistent, literal communication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing Elucidare represents a personal triumph over the focus challenges that ADHD typically brings to long-term projects. By sharing my daily progress on Twitter/X and contributing resources to the builder community, I transformed my usual scattered energy into sustained momentum. I'm incredibly proud that a non-traditional coder built a production-ready application that could genuinely help thousands of neurodiverse professionals worldwide. The technical achievement - seamless AI integration, secure payment processing, and accessible design - proves that neurodiversity plus AI tools can create extraordinary results. Most importantly, I'm proud to have built something that addresses my own daily struggles while potentially transforming workplace inclusion for the 15-20% of the population who think differently. This isn't just an app - it's a bridge between neurotypical communication expectations and neurodiverse cognitive patterns. The enthusiastic response from the neurodiverse community during development confirmed we're solving a real, painful problem that existing tools completely miss.

What we learned

This project became an intensive masterclass in full-stack development, accomplished entirely through AI-assisted learning. As a Product Manager with zero coding background, I absorbed Tailwind CSS, Supabase architecture, Edge Functions, API integration patterns, and production deployment - all in 30 days. The technical learning curve was steep but exhilarating: understanding database security with row-level policies, implementing real-time subscriptions, connecting multiple APIs through serverless functions, and integrating Stripe's payment system (which turned out to be surprisingly intuitive). Adding Sentry for error tracking as a last-minute enhancement taught me about production monitoring and the importance of observability in user-facing applications. Beyond technical skills, I discovered the transformative power of building in public. Sharing daily updates, resources, and challenges with the Twitter/X community created accountability, motivation, and genuine connections that sustained me through difficult development phases. Most profoundly, I learned that neurodiversity isn't a barrier to technical achievement - it's a superpower when paired with the right tools. My ADHD hyperfocus became an asset, not an obstacle.

What's next for elucidare

Elucidare's roadmap focuses on scaling from individual users to organizational transformation through enterprise features currently in development: Team Management Dashboard will enable HR teams and managers to support neurodiverse employees with usage analytics, success metrics, and progress tracking while maintaining individual privacy. Admin Controls & Reporting provide organizations with insights into communication training effectiveness, feature adoption rates, and ROI measurement for workplace inclusion programs. Training Modules offer structured learning paths for both neurodiverse employees and their neurotypical colleagues, fostering mutual understanding and inclusive communication practices. The most exciting integration in development connects with the Limitless pendant API, allowing users to upload their daily conversations for personalized coaching insights. This revolutionary feature will analyze real workplace interactions to provide tailored recommendations for communication improvement. Long-term vision includes API integrations with Slack, Teams, and Gmail for real-time communication assistance, and partnerships with disability employment organizations to make workplace inclusion scalable across industries. Elucidare aims to become the standard tool that transforms workplace communication from a source of anxiety into a pathway for neurodiverse professional success.
