The main driver for this project was the thought of how we all wanted to improve the way we speak on a daily basis. Whether that be deleting a certain word from our daily vocabulary, adding a new one, or improving the sentiment of our speech.

What it does

Our app helps you keep your bad speech habits in check and encourages you to talk eloquently. We believe that first impressions are important and how a person talks speaks volumes about themselves. This app can also help you improve your public speaking, presentation skills, and how you interview by tracking sentiment in your speech, both positive and negative.

How we built it

We built our app using Swift, Google Cloud Speech Platform, and a sentiment API. For designs we used Adobe Illustrator.

Challenges we ran into

Time constraints with implementation of extra features such as: tracking the tone of your voice, when you ramble on, and prosody (repetitive or monotone inflection).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the UI, as well as the word detection features we implemented. We are also very proud to put out a prototype that gives you a general idea of how the app would work at its full potential.

What we learned

Not everyone in the group was familiar with using Swift, but we made this decision because it would be best for the implementation. Also, we learned a lot about human-computer interaction (UI/UX) and iOS development. At the end of it all, we all learned a bunch at this hackathon and we are glad to have made a prototype that takes the consumer into consideration.

What's next for Eloquence

We would love to implement the extra features we mentioned above. With these features added, we believe this app could be game-changing and would benefit people's overall lives by making interactions more meaningful.
