Inspiration

Elon's optimal and efficient working and leadership style. We created ElonPet in the hopes that we would set higher demands for our code. We code monkeys can only strive to be like him

What it does

Have you ever wanted Elon Musk to be your boss? Us too! This is why we built ElonPet, the stuff of every dev's dreams. Ensure you reach peak productivity with necessary features such as:
🐦 Small elonpets running around your IDE
🐦 Tweets from Elon delivered straight to you every few seconds
🐦 Getting yelled at with every error you make
🐦 Watching Elon's face grow with disgust if your code gets too nasty
🐦 Surprise code reviews: as an employee, you have signed away your rights and are subject to random code checks. Your code will be printed and inspected by Elon. Failure to pass his stringent requirements will result in very dire consequences. You have been warned.

How we built it

Typescript, with art assets created using Pixaki, Procreate and Figma.

Challenges we ran into

  • None of us have had any experiences in developing TypeScript and VSCode extension, thus we encountered some learning curve. In particular, the modes of data transfer and renderings of frontend components within VSCode were particularly challenging to understand initially.
  • We encountered some peculiar compilation and runtime execution issues related to VSCode, which is related to the runtime execution and caching mechanism of VSCode. We invested quite a bit of time to overcome this challenge.

  • We developed a working prototype that brings joy and happiness to devs!
  • We learned and worked on an unfamiliar tech stack in a short span of time
